J.D. Martinez has been called up to play for Major League Baseball’s Houston Astros, as announced by the organization late Friday evening. Martinez now joins Casper Wells (Seattle Mariners) as the first two players to make MLB rosters from the Oneonta Outlaws (former Saratoga Phillies) franchise of the New York Collegiate Baseball League.

The Oneonta Outlaws are the 2011 NYCBL Champions, beating the Webster Yankees in game #1, 7-1 and the 5-1 in the Final in front of 2,214 fans at Historic Damaschke Field. This is the 2nd Championship for the franchise and first since the team relocated to Oneonta from Saratoga Springs in 2010.
