Two former backstops for the Oneonta Outlaws, Tom Murphy (Oneonta 2010) and David Roney (Oneonta 2011), have been selected to be part of the initial watch list for the 2012 Johnny Bench Award. The award is presented by the Greater Wichita Sports Commission to the top catcher in NCAA Division I baseball. Overall, 46 players are part of the watch list... By John McGraw

The Oneonta Outlaws, 2011 League Champions and proud members of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, have announced their 2012 season schedule. The Outlaws will play a 50-game schedule that includes 48 PGCBL regular season contests and two exhibition games.

University at Buffalo junior catcher Tom Murphy (Oneonta 2010) has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2012 Golden Spikes Award. The award, presented by USA Baseball and sponsored by Major League Baseball, is given to the top amateur baseball player in the country. Murphy is one of 50 NCAA Division I players on the watch list. The County Times out of Delaware County, Pa., listed Damaschke Field as the 5th most “classic minor league" ballpark in the country. Built in 1939, Damaschke Field was a longtime staple of the New York-Penn League. Surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, it seats about 4,500.
