The Oneonta Outlaws have their first victory.
Oneonta rallied for an 11-10 New York Collegiate Baseball League victory over host Glens Falls on Monday night.
The Outlaws (1-2) erased deficits of 9-2 and 10-3 to earn their first victory since the franchise moved from Saratoga earlier this year.
Oneonta scored twice in the fifth and sixth innings, once in the seventh and three times in the eighth to earn the victory.
Trailing, 10-8, entering the eighth, Ryan Walsh led off with a double and Matt Scruggs followed with a single, scoring Walsh to make it 10-9. Scruggs went to second on an error by Glens Falls shortstop Tommy Cheek.
After Tom Murphy walked, James Young's sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third. William Arnold then reached on an error by Cheek, scoring Murphy and Scruggs for an 11-10 lead.
Mike Klaus (1-0) earned the victory in relief, allowing two hits over three innings. He struck out two and walked one. He also hit a batter.
Oneonta's offense prevented starter Aaron Stull from taking a loss. He gave up eight runs (six earned) on two hits and seven walks over 1 1/3 innings.
Walsh finished 4-for-6 with three runs and two RBIs to lead the Outlaws, who open their home schedule at 7 tonight against Mohawk Valley. The DiamondDawgs beat Cooperstown, 17-3, Monday.
Scruggs contributed three hits and two RBIs for Oneonta, which received two hits and two RBIs apiece from Murphy and Arnold. Derrick Osteen and Young each had two hits.
Oneonta High graduate Lance Ratchford went 1-for-5. Fellow OHS grad Jeff Wiltsie went 0-for-5 but had an RBI.
