Oneonta Outlaws 2025 Player Signing #10:
Jordan Goble - Junior - Right-Handed Pitcher - SUNY Oswego - 5’8 160 - Oneonta, NY
Returning for a third summer to join the Outlaws Ironman Club, it’s the homegrown 5’8 160 right-handed flamethrower Jordan Goble. In his first season for Oneonta in 2023, he posted a 7.64 ERA in 7 games (3 starts) while throwing 17.2 innings, allowing 27 hits, 20 runs, 15 earned runs, walking 11, and striking out 7. He had a remarkable outing at Boonville in the season’s final week in which he held the Lumberjacks scoreless for 6 innings, allowing just 6 base runners (3 hits, 3 walks). It was the energy and success from an outing like that that Goble carried over to last summer in his Damaschke Field return.
In 2024, Goble finished with a pretty similar stat line as he went 1-2 in 8 games (3 starts) with a 7.78 ERA having surrendered 36 hits, 18 runs, 17 earned runs, while walking 6 and striking out 8. He made two starts during the season’s opening week and then pitched out of a high leverage relief spot all the way until the final weekend/home finale. Two of his three best appearances came upon getting the starting nod as 6/7 at Amsterdam he went 3.2 innings, with 4 hits, 1 run (1 earned), 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts and in that aforementioned 7/26 home game vs Mohawk Valley he completed 4.0 innings, with 6 hits, 2 runs (2 earned), 1 walk, and 6 strikeouts. Jordan also had a monstrous 5.0 inning appearance out of the bullpen on 7/20 vs Boonville which helped power Oneonta to a 9-8 victory. He gave up 8 hits but kept getting out of jams having only given up 2 runs (1 earned) while walking 2 and striking out 1.
Some of his best attributes on the bump are his ability to keep calm and find ways to get out of trouble, his deception as to what’s coming next in an at-bat, the mix-up of his arsenal, and maybe most importantly the presence he brings in the clubhouse. Goble will be one of the older guys on the 2025 Outlaws roster so this year more than ever he will be entrusted to take on a leadership role and help guide this group.
Upon two years of JUCO ball at Herkimer, Goble committed late last summer to join the SUNY Oswego for his junior season. The Lakers begin play of their 2025 season on Saturday, March 1st in Salisbury, MD vs Widener University. Goble will hope that his progress made last year at HCCC can carry over and get him the opportunity to shine bright for his new squad. In 2024, he finished with 2 wins, 1 save, and a complete game for the Generals. His 19 innings saw him post a 2.84 ERA with 19 hits, 7 runs, 6 earned runs, while walking 3 and striking out 16. Jordan saw the spotlight in the regional run for the Gens, and is a battle tested warrior the Lakers are lucky to have and that we are fortunate to get back for another summer.
