Kalen Dempsey - Freshman - Right-Handed Pitcher - Allegany College of Maryland - 6’2 195 Ib - Cooperstown, NY

A 2024 graduate of nearby Cooperstown Central School, the Outlaws are proud to continue the tradition of bringing in some talented local pieces with the signing of right-handed pitcher Kalen Dempsey. Dempsey was a conference all-star in each of his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons for the Hawkeyes. He tied the CCS record for most strikeouts in a game (17), and finished his storied varsity career with 174 total punch outs. During his senior season, Dempsey finished with a 2.20 ERA across 45 innings while striking out 67, good for 1.5 K’s per inning.

Dempsey is currently in the midst of his freshman year at Allegany College of Maryland (Cumberland, MD) where he is studying multimedia technology. The reason in which he selected the program was their ability to help develop pitchers and their standards for helping players get to the next level. Kalen is currently on the shelf recovering from Ulnar Nerve Elbow Surgery that he was forced to have this winter. It took away his spring season, but he’s going to be back firing on all cylinders a couple weeks ahead of the PGCBL summer schedule starting.

Kalen’s a workhouse on and off the field. He’s the type that wants the best for all of his teammates on the field, in the gym, and in the classroom, and pushes those around him to strive for greatness. It’s personalities like that that help a team in a short 48 game summer schedule form quick bonds and push each other.

Prior to his injury, Dempsey was topping out in the high 80s on his fastball. He has a deceptive five pitch mix that topples batters off guard time and time again, featuring his 4-Seamer, Sinker, Splitter, Slider, and Curveball. The East Division better be on their A game when this guy’s on the bump.

Dempsey’s looking for All Star status, just like Outlaws proud partner All Star Rentals is looking to host nothing but future stars.
