Zach Rowe - Freshman - Left-Handed Pitcher/Outfield/Utility - SUNY Oneonta - 6’2 185 Ib - Mellenville, NY

The connections to the Red Dragons remain alive and well as the Outlaws welcome in the ultra-talented left-handed pitcher/outfield/utility player Zach Rowe. The 6’2 185 Ib freshman has been limited to just work on the mound this spring, due to a talented senior outfield group. But how can you say limited with the line he’s thrown up? Upon joining the weekend rotation in the second part of the season, he now holds a 3.50 ERA across 36.0 innings with 32 strikeouts. Opposing batters are hitting just .203 against him.

The reason in which he chose SUNY Oneonta is because he wanted to go to a 4 year school that offered him both the chance to continue playing baseball and also the opportunity to step out of his comfort zone, and believed it was the best spot to do so. Rowe is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice owing to wanting to be a state trooper in the future.

He is no stranger to playing summer ball as he has spent each of the last two years with the Frozen Ropes Outlaws. Rowe played in 55 combined games and finished with a .352 average, 42 runs batted in, and 16 stolen bags. He also pitched a total of 28.2 innings, capping his FRO career with 30 strikeouts and a 1.90 ERA.

Rowe has a lethal three pitch mix with a fastball, curveball, and change-up. He tops out in the high 80s and has some wicked deception that is sure to throw Eastern division hitters off all summer long. Zach’s thing in which he is most excited about in playing for the Outlaws is the atmosphere of the games. In speaking to former Laws, they all spoke of the big crowds and being treated almost like big leaguers and he can’t wait to have that experience himself beginning with the season opener Thursday, May 29th in Amsterdam.

Rowe will be rolling in the innings just like Outlaws proud partner Bank of Cooperstown can roll all your coins.
