The 2024 squad rolled out to the second-best start in franchise history and tied the best month of June in team history, before a tough month of July saw them finish 15-21-2. They did however find themselves back in the postseason for the first time since 2022, suffering a first-round defeat on the road on Monday, July 29th to the DiamondDawgs 12-2. Most impressively, 10 players from that 2024 team are back to make another run in 2025, a league high. That crew consists of Russell Sage catcher/outfielder Darren Dengler and right-handed pitcher Brian Dengler, Ithaca right-handed pitcher Asa Dugan, Hudson Valley middle-infielders Brendan Connolly and Matt Carrera, SUNY Oneonta right-handed pitcher Martin Thorsland, SUNY Oswego right-handed pitcher Jordan Goble, Herkimer right-handed pitcher Evan Staroba, Canisius first baseman Connor Waiting, and Coastal Alabama right-handed pitcher Logan Marquez.

Gators freshman Darren Dengler hit .315 (12/38) in 15 games last summer, with 2 2B, 4 RBI, 10 BB, and 11 SO while splitting time between catcher and left field. Gators junior Brian Dengler made 10 appearances on the bump in 2024, with 2 starts. He threw 22.2 innings, surrendering 24 hits, 13 runs, 10 earned runs, walking 17, and striking out 13 to finish with a 3.97 ERA. Bomber’s freshman Asa Dugan joined the team for their regular season finale in Watertown and threw 3.2 stellar innings in relief, allowing just 2 hits, and striking out 1. Brendan Connolly and Matt Carrera, who both just concluded their Vikings tenure and are looking for homes this fall, made up one of the most lethal in-field duos in the league before Connolly suffered a shoulder injury that kept him just to hitting for most of the summer. Connolly finished the summer with a .275 average (19/69), with 2 2B, 7 RBI, 6 BB, and 16 SO in his 19 GP. Carrera finished with a .280 clip (21/75), 2 2B, 9 RBI, 10 BB, and 14 SO in his 22 GP. Red Dragons junior Martin Thorsland threw in 8 games, making 1 start, and had a 2.66 ERA in 23.2 IP. He gave up 26 hits, 9 runs, 7 earned runs, 5 walks, and struck out 21, while winning Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week in the week he compiled two saves.

Lakes junior Jordan Goble also pitched in 8 games, making 3 starts. He finished with a 7.78 ERA in 19.2 IP, surrendering 36 hits, 18 runs, 17 earned runs, while walking 6 and striking out 8. Generals sophomore Evan Staroba threw 16.0 innings across 9 games, and pumped up a 5.06 ERA. His line had 13 hits, 10 runs, 9 earned runs, 12 walks, and 25 punchouts on it. Golden Griffins first basemen Connor Waiting hit .230 (14/61), with 2 2B, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 6 BB, and 26 SO. He was one of only two Laws players to blast one out of Damaschke Field in 2024. And Coastal Alabama junior Logan Marquez got back on the mound following Tommy John Surgery and appeared in 5 games, starting 3. He managed a 7.71 ERA with 7 hits, 7 earned runs, and 6 runs with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.

Keaton Mark and Josiah Aska once again will coach the group for the third consecutive year, and they’ll have pitching coach help from volunteer coaches Tanner Beang and John Mikolaicyk. Beang and Mikolaiyck each pitched for the Outlaws during their collegiate days and both have NCAA DI pitching experience (Beang – Binghamton, Mikolaiyck – Hofstra). The player roster in itself has a big-time local feel yet again, but on top of the returning core, there are some massive additions for this summer that are sure to wow Laws faithful.

Keep your eyes peeled for High Point University shortstop Jace Kohler and outfielder Jack Clark, Hudson Valley first basemen Jameson Balich and pitchers Kyle Bartlett and Dan Paton, Sacred Heart catcher/outfielder Nathan Bowes, and SUNY Oneonta pitcher/outfielder Zach Rowe.

Come catch the Outlaws in action in the home opener on Tuesday, June 3rd vs Auburn at 7pm. Free admission is sponsored by the Otsego County Events Grant.
